For the past few months WWE has been reluctant to medically clear Daniel Bryan for an in-ring return. WWE's biggest underdog and (legitimately) most popular babyface recently sought an outside medical opinion regarding his health, challenging the WWE's edict. After recent hints about going elsewhere if WWE will not budge, Uprox.com dropped an article today that claims Daniel Bryan is training for MMA. Even if it's just a hobby or to sharpen his skills for the ring, it is a great way to get WWE's attention.<br />
See the <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjqroDu0crJAhVpJnIKHay1DkYQFggcMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fuproxx.com%2Fprowrestling%2F2015%2F12%2Fdaniel-bryan-mma-training%2F&usg=AFQjCNGkZSPFq2H5Gf10XYVmJbX7EFHPsg&sig2=B2atfS5aigRyMyLPa_TAgQ&bvm=bv.109332125,d.bGQ">Uprox article</a> for details.<br />
<br />
Though WWE's profitability has never been higher, WWE's ratings have been at historic lows. Inability to create new superstars and a recent spat of injuries have tag-teamed to put the boots to the company as of late. WWE has desperately been trying to get people behind new heroes but few have seen support like Bryan has. his popularity hi-jacked WWE's WrestleMania plans for two consecutive years and rumors have surfaced that Bryan is being held off TV purposely so it doesn't happen for the third year in a row. His fan support has put them on the defensive, from a writing/programming standpoint. I'm not a wrestling insider but if the fans are universally rejecting everything you give them except one guy, does that not mean you are going in the wrong direction? Losing someone of that caliber could mean more than losing a star with a built in fan-base: it would be the second underdog hero to leave for the greener pastures of MMA. CM Punk's WWE divorce drama and lawsuit were big news. Alienating another "people's champion" would do nothing positive for the company's image at a time where The New York Post recently ran an article asking if WWE is "down for the count".<br />
<br />
Do you see WWE clearing Daniel Bryan? Could you see him fighting MMA? Does the possibility of Daniel Bryan versus CM Punk UFC fight look enticing to anyone?<br />

<a href="https://www.blogger.com/" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a><a href="https://www.blogger.com/" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a><span style="font-family: "calibri";">Criticism of last night’s Survivor Series is running wild on Social Media, and rightfully so. I’m different, though, than most other wrestling fans online. I try to point out the good as well as the bad. Instead of parroting everyone else let’s keep it 100 and talk about the positives from Survivor Series.</span></div>
<div style="border-image: none;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"></span><span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<h3 style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Goldust Returns</h3>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<div style="border-image: none;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
</div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<div style="border-image: none;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">Goldust re-emerged over the last few years as one of WWE’s most solid performers. He has been in the best shape of his life and having, arguably, the best run of his career. (Which is saying a lot due to his natural talent and past success). Fans were disappointed when the Rhodes Brothers angle was dropped earlier this year and even more so when Goldust went down with an injury. Now the man in Gold and Black is back, Cactus Jack. Welcome back.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"></span><br />
<h3 style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Undertaker’s Entrance </h3>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><span style="font-family: "calibri";">It was nice they separated Kane’s and Undertaker’s entrances last night. It let the dead man grandstand a bit on the twenty-fifth anniversary of his debut and let us take it all in. The casket hanging above the aisle with the different faces of The Undertaker over his twenty-five-year WWE run was simple but really cool. Some fans joke that his entrance is so long, but it gave me a chance to think back to 1990 seeing The Undertaker for the first time. </span></span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
</div>
<h3 style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
No Ambrose Turn</h3>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">People have been saying Roman should turn heel. I agree (see <a href="http://programpodcast.blogspot.com/2015/11/roman-reigns-new-authority-in-wwe.html">Roman Reigns-WWE's new Authority?</a> for my take) but I never thought they would pull the trigger. They are desperately trying to find the next John Cena and have been prepping Roman for the spot for a while now. Though not a mega-star, Ambrose is one of the WWE’s bigger baby-faces right now. There are often as many Ambrose shirts as Reigns shirts in the crowd and his main event on SmackDown with Rollins in July drew a higher rating than normal. He is fun to watch and we enjoy rooting for him, so I’m glad they decided not to mess with him for now.</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<h3 style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Classic Elimination Tag</h3>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">The Pay-Per-View elimination match enjoyable. I didn’t like the Sheamus deal at the end, but the match was fun with some good action. ‘Nuff said.</span></div>
<br />
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<h3 style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Tyler Breeze </h3>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">I am happy for Tyler Breeze. His gimmick is connecting with the mainstream audiences, he is getting exposure, and he seems to be adapting well to being on the main roster. His match with Ziggler was short and sweet and is another step in the journey of Prince Pretty. </span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<h3 style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
Bonus Elimination Tag</h3>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><br />
</span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">Long-time fans wish WWE would change Survivor Series back to an elimination tag-match dominated format but Vince McMahon has said, publicly, that the concept is dead. I don’t agree, but when seventy-five percent of our Raw and SmackDown main-events are variations of tag-team matches it is hard to build something fresh or special in that construct. That being said, fans were disappointed when WWE only announced one traditional matchup and were puzzled when the participants were not announced. I liked the surprise aspect, but with the roster depth issues it was clear who would likely be in the match. Then WWE threw us a curve-ball: they put an additional match on the pre-show. It’s not an entire card of elimination tags but it was better than expected, which, in the current state of things, count as a win. </span></div>
<div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mXX-BKc9xso/Vk-f3EWl2sI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/_ZtwwPQ32NQ/s1600/Paige-Charlotte-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mXX-BKc9xso/Vk-f3EWl2sI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/_ZtwwPQ32NQ/s400/Paige-Charlotte-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
We live in the social media age where knee-jerk reactions
are commonplace. Every day I hear public figures discussing the PC Police. Are
they to blame for the outrage from Monday’s RAW? Is hypersensitivity of those
online the only reason we’re having this discussion? While it is frustrating
that many of the folks who demand more Attitude Era-esque content are too
easily offended to live through a similar time, this time I give the PC Police
a pass. I was not offended as some claim to be but I do feel bad for those
involved in or affected by the angle. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When Kayfabe was adhered to you could get away with
exploiting a death. The company could deny involvement, suspend the heel, have
the babyface beg the fans to request the heel’s reinstatement and agree to let
them fight in a non-sanctioned match.
Even if fans thought some acts were hokey a superb worker could cast
such doubt, but times have changed. They’ve taught everyone that everything we
see on TV is created by the WWE machine. “It’s all show business!” WWE has
beaten us over the head with it. Tough Enough and Breaking Ground have even
shown what lengths WWE creative goes to in producing talent. Characters are
fabricated, names are chosen, matches are choreographed, and dialogue is
scripted. So why would anyone believe that anything they’re seeing is real? In
another era Paige could claim she went off script and Charlotte could beg for
an opportunity for retribution. Paige has big heat and fans want to see
Charlotte kick her ass. Today the heat is on the person who green-lit the idea,
so what did it really accomplish? <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
That is the whole problem with “worked-shoot” programs. Even
if something real is said or a real punch is thrown, the outcome is a worked
wrestling match. As was the case with CM Punk’s “Pipe-Bomb” promo,
“in-the-know” fans got mad at the company and casual fans thought he was a
whiner. The true heat/drama is in the real struggle of Phillip Brooks fighting
the WWE machine, not CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio pretending to fight over a
title. Even the most casual fan knows Paige and Charlotte were saying things
that were written for them. I’m sure they did the best they could but Ray
Charles could see how uncomfortable they were. Either Paige was crying or Rob
Van Dam paid her a visit shortly before show-time and Charlotte almost couldn’t
get through the segment without bursting into tears.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
People defended the segment citing that Charlotte was involved
so it was ok. Her inclusion was approval enough, right? Beth and Ric Flair did
not agree. Shortly after the airing, both stated that neither WWE nor Charlotte
warned them or asked permission. The mother and father of a young son, second
generation wrestler, and WWE prospect who overdosed on heroin were not given a
heads-up that his death was to be exploited on national T.V….in South
Carolina….Flair Country…. WWE could have written a note on a cocktail napkin
and delivered it via slingshot to Beth’s or Ric’s front door. The fact that
they treated a Hall of Famer in such a manner makes me wonder if CM Punk really was telling
the truth, after all.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
UFC has Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm main eventing
Pay-Per-Views, setting attendance records, and drawing big money by presenting
fights just as entertaining and intriguing as their male counterparts. They are
serious, confident, and attractive female fighters placed in compelling
situations. How does WWE counter that with their sputtering “Diva’s Revolution”?
A publicity stunt. The issue with this angle is not sensitive fans or the PC
Police. WWE simply decided to go somewhere they did not have to go.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Bottom line: resentment of this angle is not from people
being easily offended. WWE exploited the drug overdose of an employee’s sibling
without letting his mother and father (a WWE Hall of Famer, no less) know ahead
of time. They put the talent involved in an uncomfortable situation where they
would draw criticism without reward. Most importantly, they gave potential
viewers who look down at wrestling for being “trashy” another reason to not
plunk down their $9.99 per month. Maybe if WWE stopped pulling stunts like
this, Michael Cole wouldn’t have to shill the Network so hard.</div>

Seth Rollins will be out 6-8 months with a knee injury. Randy Orton and John Cena are off of TV for
the time-being. Daniel Bryan may never return. Sting’s status is still
undetermined. Roman Reigns is just now rebuilding momentum that he lost
last year. WWE has established very few superstars that could
fill the slot of “top guy”. The mid-card is
loaded with great wrestling and young talent but no immediate heirs to the cape
of Super Cena. With WWE's depth issues now is the time for WWE Creative and Performers to take chances.Rumors suggest some WWE brass
suggesting a Reigns/Rollins double turn at Survivor Series before Rollins’
injury happened. Although Vince McMahon was said to not be high on the idea, Roman
Reigns becoming the guy to replace Seth Rollins makes perfect sense.<br />

Back when Cena was fighting the Authority it never felt
authentic. The hand-picked guy, the WWE’s real life franchise player, the

CM Punk, Dean Ambrose, and Daniel Bryan are all personalities that SHOULD, from
a casting perspective, have filled that position. Imagine how ridiculous it
would be if Tom Brady chastised the NFL for treating some players better than
others. He is the franchise. He is a rich celebrity. He is the product of the machine. It didn't work because he was on the wrong side of the fence. As CM Punk said he's the New York Yankees pretending to be an underdog. They tell us he's a hero, yet he dangles the carrot of Nikki Bella’s desire for children to keep

It’s not
that he’s stale, or that he can’t wrestle, or that he’s played out. It’s
because everything about John Cena is fake. If he came out on TV and played
this up as a heel at least he would be admitting that he is a turd, and thus
choosing to still be a turd. Like Darth Vader, though, Cena is too far-gone
into his status to change unless someone is there to fill the void. But what
about Roman?</div>
<div align="center" class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: 10.0pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
He is a legacy case, was chosen for the Sheild over guys
like Chris Hero because they saw something in him, has the stigma of being the
“chosen one”, main evented last year’s WrestleMania, he’s pretty, and is really
good. Would it be a stretch, with The Authority’s growing friction with
Rollins, for them to appear on RAW and admit they backed the wrong Sheild
member? Roman Reigns could ditch the Mother Goose rhymes and kiss-ass babyface
promos in favor of a Rock-esque heel-turn. It would be a real moment where
reality would blend with the fictional WWE Universe, and moments like that have
birthed superstars before. Do what Cena can’t: tell the people he’s sick of
busting his ass for them to boo him. He is taking back his legacy and whether
they like him or not he is going to be “the guy”. He’s too good and too pretty
not to be. Coming out and addressing the elephant in the room while willingly
being the guy haters claim he is could be just the move Roman needs to make. <o:p></o:p></div>

It can’t be done like WWE usually does, though. Let Roman be
the one (in story) to make the turn without Triple H or Stephanie pulling the
strings. Let Roman surprise them by taking a short-cut to win the title and
then <i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">taking</i> Seth Rollins’ spot, not
being given it. That could differentiate him from Rollins and Orton: “it wasn’t
given to me, I took it.” It would also put heat on the wrestler themselves for
once, instead of Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. (Novel idea, eh?) It would
open the door for fresh opponents and scenarios and give Roman’s character the
growth it needs. Once he is ready, flip the switch, pour the concrete, and put
him in the Cena spot. Even if he never develops into the next WWE hero, it is
possible one of his babyface contenders could catch on. We will never know
unless WWE rolls the dice. They’re hot. Take a shot.<o:p></o:p></div>

Eric Bischoff has been on a media tour of sorts recently, and after his JBL's Legends appearance on the WWE Network he was the guest on a two-part episode of Ric Flair's Wooooo! Nation. We have heard many of his opinions and stories, but they shed some light on subjects such as Collision in Korea, why Rick Rude and Hulk Hogan never worked together, and other issues many of us have wondered about for years.<br />

I respect you very much. I am a life-long fan, not an industry insider or self-professed “expert”. I agree with your overall sentiment to let wrestlers go out there without a rigid format and swing for the fences. I agree it was amazing to see Sasha banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch join Paige in a “Divas Revolution”. I agree they need to speak to the audience. I agree that the way things have panned out have been a bit disappointing. I’m not convinced, however, that the solution is a simple “Pipe-Bomb” or some genuine promo time.<br />
<br />
AJ already dropped the “Pipe-Bomb” in February that started all this. It was not an angle or promo, but a Twitter exchange with Stephanie McMahon. McMahon Tweeted praise to Patricia Arquette for using her Oscar speech to publicly support the fight for women’s rights. AJ Lee Tweeted McMahon, asking why her own female employees who are setting merchandise and ratings records were compensated much less than males. Stephanie McMahon (WWE’s brand ambassador, no less) responded, hours after the Tweets went viral, that she appreciated AJ’s opinion. After a Paige/AJ vs Bella’s tag match at WrestleMania 31 the NXT trio was not called up for FIVE MONTHS. In that time WWE, allegedly, held a company meeting telling Superstars not to address WWE brass via social media, but proper chain of command. The Twitter exchange may be the reason Stephanie was used to introduce the movement on Raw, but I’m only speculating. Other than sucking up credit for the revolution, the only other reason that makes sense is that WWE’s Brand Ambassador was trying to save face after being made to look like a hypocrite in public.<br />
<br />
WWE’s character development does them no favors, either. One week The Bellas are “everything that’s wrong with the Divas division”, the next they’re role models. Stephanie McMahon emasculates babyfaces one week and Seth Rollins the other. She handed Nikki Bella the Divas title last year and is now “putting her in her place” by introducing the NXT Ladies. WWE has a way of hamstringing talent through inconsistent storytelling. Brock Lesnar is the biggest babyface attraction in wrestling and the only thing fans hate him for is crushing the streak. How does WWE capitalize on this? They bring back Undertaker to avenge the Streak! Wrestling’s most respected legend is supposed to be a heel because he kicked Brock in the d*ck? Did WWE expect the fans to boo Taker bringing up the only reason fans have to hate Brock? Why doesn’t Brock tell us he will beat Undertaker because he’s old and has a hip and knees that are made in Taiwan? That will make them get behind Brock!<br />
<br />
How about the team aspect? Even as a fan, I understand it is to get them as much exposure as possible in a short time. But Charlotte is incredible. Sahsa is incredible. Becky is incredible. Those three girls are years ahead of where most Divas in WWE are. Lumping them together is autopilot WWE booking (Team Initials, rocks!) and runs the risk of the group getting over at the expense of the individuals. (See Nexus) The girls are original and talented enough that I don’t think it will hurt them long-term, but we’ve been watching cluster tags and battle-royals for a decade. Not to mention separating the 3 new faces by means of color swatch comparison is, at best, laughable at a time when racial sensitivity is at an all-time high in the business.<br />
<br />
Even discounting everything above, the WWE Universe is still “Vinnie McMahonland.” Fans are craving something new and fresh and these ladies are finally going to the main roster…….. to feud with The Bellas. I’m sure The Bellas work hard but if it wasn’t for the Clinton/Lewinsky effect would these women have had such success? Sorry, Natalya, you married the wrong guy. WWE has clearly kept the title on Nikki to get AJ’s name off the record books so it will be a while yet before women’s wrestling could get past the “WWE ideal” Divas division. I chose the word “could” carefully. I’m not saying anybody can do what Cena does but WWE blew 2 big opportunities in the past decade. <br />
<br />
Rey Mysterio could have been the biggest Mexican star of all time. He had a chance to take Eddie Guerrero’s success to another level. Superhero and comic films are the biggest attraction in Hollywood today. Imagine Rey Mysterio starring in his own film or main stream comic. Instead, he was put into a tasteless angle that exploited Guerrero’s death and then fed to Mark Henry, Big Show, Great Khali, and finally Batista. WWE made sure to cement the perception in people’s minds that in WWE, big guys always win. <br />
<br />
Then came CM Punk. John Cena is WWE’s Superman, but Punk could have been their Batman at a time when culture was more accepting of the Dark Knight than truth , justice, and the American way. He got mainstream buzz with the Money in The Bank walk-out. Instead of a media blitz and extended absence to sell the angle he returned three weeks later, was derailed, and presented as Cena with tattoos while he whined about ice-cream bars. His feud with Nash went nowhere, he was fed to HHH, and instead of rebelling against WWE, Cena, and HHH he started backing them up! After regaining the title from a cold Alberto Del Rio, Punk stood up to John Lauranitis, then Raw GM, and seemed to begin a solid angle to fit his rebel persona. The next week it was dropped and the guy who rebelled against the machine was the franchise, the poster boy, the guy the machine was solidly behind: John Cena. When Punk turned heel and had his 400 day run interest had waned and people knew he was a place holder for The Rock or John Cena.<br />
<br />
I’m not a guy who often says “WWE should do ___” but it it’s easy to see the glaring issues that stand in the angle’s way. WWE has a history of knee-jerk reactions, pushing the stars they think will work at the expense of others, not letting talent experiment, and giving angles that work to bigger stars to keep them fed. The fans chanting for Lesnar during Nikki and Sasha’s match was because they see through Nikki Bella. She’s surrounded by talent that is miles ahead of her. It is hard to ignore during their matches but we have to go along for the ride. They must make Nikki look good. It’s bad business not to, but it is hard for fans to check their disbelief at the door. WWE sells hope. If fans know all roads lead to WWE’s guy they won’t care because they’ve no reason to hope. If Daniel Bryan was left out of Wrestlemania 30 fans would have eventually lost hope and stopped caring about him because no matter what, all roads lead to the “WWE guy”.<br />
<br />
After 40 years in the public eye, even the most casual fans know how WWE operates. This is why fans have become discontented with the WWE product. Take the f*ck finish. It used to be a way to protect two top guys while extending their programs. Now it’s used for every main event/big match angle (spare a few) and fans see through it. It’s not effective because the fans expect it and know it’s a copout, which is why today there is more heat on the writers/agents than the wrestlers when it’s utilized.<br />
<br />
So if we know Nikki will be holding the title for a long time we know it will be a while before the scene changes dramatically. And if it happens, how long does it last? If anyone thinks my above statements are groundless, ask yourself these two questions:<br />
<br />
1-On Tough Enough, who did WWE go out of their way to save from justifiable elimination? Amanda.<br />
<br />
2-Who is WWE’s pet project, being called the next face of the Divas Division? Eva Marie.<br />
<br />
If you think WWE isn’t grooming a prototypical WWE Diva to be put on top once this Revolution has passed and the new girls are established, you may have recently purchased autographed Hulk Hogan merchandise from Brutus Beefcake, brother!<br />
<br />
Until WWE brass does an honest self-examination of their methodology the bright spark of a “Pipe-Bomb”, “3:16”, “Die, Rocky.Die”, or “Cane Dewey” won’t have a chance to ignite a brushfire if WWE will ultimately p*ss on it. Instead they will continue to lag industry leaders like UFC, instead of innovating like years prior. I could be completely wrong but WWE History is on my side.<br />
<br />
Maybe I'm just a know-nothing fan who thinks too much about wrestling. You may be right but I'm a fan of almost 30-years who is sick of being embarrassed when I watch wrestling in front of friends, waiting for the redeeming parts. I've always been a WWE/F loyalist but I'm not as embarrassed watching other feds like Lucha Underground or New Japan Pro Wrestling and it's causing people like me to drift that way. <br />
<br />
I love and respect the wrestling business, it's just hard to watch sometimes.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XiQuegww7zU/VV9jZQITSFI/AAAAAAAAAb0/tyKe_GrqMPs/s1600/Wrestling%2BIceberg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XiQuegww7zU/VV9jZQITSFI/AAAAAAAAAb0/tyKe_GrqMPs/s400/Wrestling%2BIceberg.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So, of course, I forget my microphone when leaving for work today. I've brought it every day this week to record/re-record audio on my lunch break or after work. Things have been crazy lately and I wanted to get some audio up due to NXT Takeover.Today I figured there would be no reason. I was wrong. I have seen a few Facebook posts lately that have really frustrated me as a wrestling fan and they deal with disrespect.<br />
<br />
I will be the first to admit, I've mentioned on my humble little podcast that I don't get the Miz, but I also have said how he works hard and seems a company guy with a good attitude. I posted a meme the other day poking fun at Naomi's "6 long years to get to this point" comment on Raw the other night. I've also mentioned that she is a great athlete with a bright future, and dubbed her "the talented Funkadactyl" a year or so ago. So I've poked fun or joked about things or given a negative review from a fan's perspective (not an "expert), but always given praise where due and always striving to not speak as if I have inside knowledge of the wrestling business.<br />
<br />
So while on Facebook today I see that someone posted comments from a wrestling veteran that I know and numerous "smart fans" spared no time to insult the guy. Mind you he has been very approachable and has been kind enough to give me his time to ask questions and share my opinions even though I have never wrestled a match. I know he doesn't care what random wrestling fans think because he has had positive feedback in his career from veterans that he respects, but I take exception.<br />
<br />
I then see a note about how Eva Marie was treated at NXT recently.Wrestling fans have an impression that Eva Marie is only in wrestling to be a TV star and that she doesn't care about the wrestling business. When she first came in it was obvious that her knowledge of wrestling history was limited, so there was some scorn that came with it. In the last few months she's been posting workout videos showing her dedication to getting better. She's been doing these work outs ON TOP OF filming Total Divas. When she first came on the scene it was not her fault she's drop dead gorgeous and people decided to put her on the show. The fact that most of the Diva hopefuls wrestle in shoes and Eva Marie was wearing traditional wrestling boots was a very simple detail that showed me that she may be different than we think. NXT fans were apparently saying some very disrespectful things to her during a taping the other night.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
I'm a life-long wrestling fan. I watch everything from WWE to NJPW to RoH to TNA (before the move to DA) to local Indies like Michigan Wrestling Organization and Imperial Wrestling Entertainment (when I find the time). I love it so much that I joined message boards and Facebook pages to discuss wrestling with other fans. I also started this podcast to discuss wrestling with other fans and wrestlers and to eventually offer more interviews of wrestling personalities when we grow to that point. But it is very hard to do a wrestling podcast as a fan of the business when most wrestlers see hardcore fans as disrespectful, ignorant know-it-alls.<br />
<br />
I haven't taken 1,000 bumps, or driven 3 million miles, or shed blood in dozens of cities so all I have is being a fan. I've paid my dues in my own industry (which ironically includes driving long distances for nothing more than a conversation and the opportunity to make a sale) but in wrestling I've accomplished nothing. I've taken up the opportunity to get in the ring, albiet a brief few minutes, to take some bumps and run the ropes to appreciate what it feels like and how difficult even the basics can be. Even so, it doesn't instill a lifetime's worth of experiences or knowledge.<br />
<br />
I have this in my mind every time I hit "record" and speak into my microphone. If I think I say something that makes me sound like a "know-it-all" or "wanna-be" I take it out before it goes live. I have wrestlers of various experience on the show so THEY can be the experts. Taking these precautions, most veterans who may hear my opinion probably still wonder what gives me the right. That's a fair point. I respect them and they have a right to feel that way. I'm just a fan who loves wrestling so much that I love talking about wrestling with fans and I love being creative and performing. Podcasting is a way I can try to mesh both together.<br />
<br />
For someone like me who tries to keep this in his mind it's embarrassing to see some fans being blatantly disrespectful. Sharing an opinion, thinking someone isn't a good wrestler, or poking fun with a meme or a joke is one thing but going out of your way to attack them personally is just ignorant. Actions like these are what cause pros to scoff at so-called "smart" fans and not take the rest of us seriously. It makes it hard for me as a hardcore fan to approach wrestlers with some success to have a conversation with me personally, let alone for the show. It causes people that aim to please or entertain us to second guess themselves. It makes me question if you really are a fan of the business anyway.<br />
<br />
Disagree without insulting. Be respectful to those who actually do it instead of watching from the couch/crowd. Don't pretend you're smart to the business because we don't know NEARLY as much as we think. We all have opinions but we all have assholes too. Just because you have one doesn't mean you have to be one.<br />
<br />

This is the second half of our "fight night" double main-event. This time I tackle Kevin Owens and WWE's NXT paradox. My thoughts on Kevin Owens are honest and possibly differ from the rest of the wrestling fans out there. Find out what that means on tonight's episode. Also, I realized that WWE may have completely shot themselves in the foot with the way they have made their feeder territory into an alternative brand.</div>

I don't pretend to be smart to the business. At all. I don't pretend to be an expert and I never will be one. I give opinions and commentary and anything I said below about heat or drawing are things I've gotten from quoting wrestling personalities or my opinion. Feel free to leave your comments below-<br />

Obviously, Vince Russo's comments regarding Sami Zayn's Raw debut have made internet headlines. I have debated writing an article about this but he's just such a leach on the wrestling business it is not even worth it. All I will say is his track record proves that he is full of shit. I understand Zayn came off as a star because Montreal is a wrestling crowd and hardcore fans know who he is. That's a fair point, but personalities draw, not an intricately woven storyline by a Hollywood writer. He was firey, athletic, gutted out a match while injured, and has leapfrogged any other recently debuted rookie. Steamboat/Savage is said to be the best match in history, but Hogan/Andre sold the tickets, I get that. But how far away from wrestling does WWE have to go? Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus in a drunk karaoke contest would sell tickets but it's not FUCKING WRESTLING! Hogan/Andre was entertainment, but it was still a fight between two personalities that packed the Silverdome. <br />
<br />
Those of you may be Russo fans. That's fine. below I'm linking to a clip from Russo on Roddy Piper's podcast that shows how ignorant he is. It's not blatant, but if you know how to read a conversation you will understand what I mean. If you can pick up on his tells (a tell is a trait that people demonstrate when lying; in his case buddy/bro/okay/bumbling/back peddling/listen) you will pick up on how ignorant and disrespectful he is. Insisting Piper look at things from Russo's point of view? He doesn't have to. He's Roddy Piper. You need to see things from his perspective, and if you haven't you have zero business telling him what to do! Suggesting a star like Piper introduce himself to you? That's your responsibility. Russo's only defense is to prove that he was unqualified to be in the position he was in. That's why no fan, outsider, Hollywood writer has business telling a guy like Roddy Piper what to do. No matter how good an idea you can come up with we can't relate to them. it's that simple.<br />
<br />
Talking slowly to Roddy like he is stupid, being more concerned with proving his point than saying his peace and shutting up, etc. He is like the guy that tries so hard to prove he isn't racist that he shows how racist he really is. Check out the clip. Support guys like Piper. Sheets and news outlets: stop giving this jerkoff attention. I know I have no track-record of successful work in the wrestling business, but neither does Russo. I'm not trying to convince people that I'm an expert. I'm a fan. I've started giving my opinions and commentary, good or bad, so I feel a responsibility to defend wrestling and call out people like this. >Brian Jay<br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
Why do I still watch wrestling? It's a question I get a lot. The answer is difficult because it's just in me. It's something I love very much and can't explain why. This weekend's Super-fight between Floyd "Money" Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is a terrific example of why, at least, I still spend my hard-earned money on pro-wrestling. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Heading into this weekend everyone was talking about
Mayweather/Pacquiao. The promotion and hype was incredible. Now all
the world is talking about how ripped off they were Saturday night. Mayweather unified some titles, bested Pacquiao, and solidified his reign as king of pay-per-view boxing. Good for Floyd. He and Pacquiao also delivered a long and uneventful 12-round fight that went to decision. New-comers to the sport expected a “Rocky”-like performance and got a real boxing match instead. In the end, Pacquiao’s momentum is gone, Mayweather is relinquishing his titles, and millions fans that paid $100 to see boxing for the first time will never do so again because they felt cheated. Mayweather announced one more fight before he retires but what brings those people back? Pacquiao’s camp is disputing the finish but that’s not strong enough to compel “cheated” fans to shell out another $100 in six-months time. Boxing needs to build another phenom from scratch and they will never get the chance to prove themselves in a title fight against Mayweather.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
This past March, the entertainment world was buzzing about WrestleMania 31. I didn’t see as many people on
Facebook asking where they could see it, but there were still a lot of eyes on the
WWE this year. Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and Paul Heyman even appeared on ESPN to
hype the event that pitted unstoppable Roman Reigns vs immovable Brock Lesnar for the Undisputed WWE World title. The aftermath of the event was the opposite of Mayweather/Pacquiao. Even though less people were talking about ‘Maina , and the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight was more profitable, WWE is in a much better position than the boxing world. WWE delivered a great
performance, cemented Reigns as a top guy, solidified Brock as the top
attraction in wrestling, and kept both strong with a drive-by surprise from Seth
Rollins. (That's forgetting the rest of the card filled with main-event quality matchups.) All three
performers, and pro wrestling in general, are better off after the event. Most importantly they gave new viewers reasons to keep watching Reigns, Rollins, and Lesnar on future events. Hardcore and casual fans were happy and WWE
will no doubt hang on to some of the new viewers, if only for its bigger shows. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
If you don’t think the reaction to Mayweather/Pacquiao is a big deal, remember Tyson/McNeely in 1995? Tyson was the former champion, but still a box-office phenomenon and
this match was hyped as a can’t-miss event. All of my neighbors packed into a basement living-room to watch the big fight. We sat through an hour of promos hyping it. Tension piqued
during the introductions and then dissipated as the fight ended abruptly, with
McNeely’s corner throwing in the towel with 1:30 left in the first round. The
fight of the century that was to reinvigorate boxing lasted less time than it
took to sing the National Anthem. This match was the beginning of the end of Tyson's career, and affected boxing a great deal. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
On this “Black Monday” for the boxing world, I’m hearing
people say Saturday’s fight will finally
seal pro boxing’s coffin. When people ask me why I still pay to watch wrestling
it is easy for me to point to last night and say, “No matter what happens on
the card, something will be awesome and worth the price I pay. I’m entertained
and that’s why I pay to see it.” Boxing die-hards will continue to watch, but I'm sure that will be about it. Congratulations to the people who got a huge
pay-day from Saturday’s fight: it may be the last of its kind for a long time.<o:p></o:p></div>

All are talented in their own way, and some are just one or two steps away from a potential breakout moment. One of them created an audition tape for WWE's revamped version of Tough Enough, and in 60 seconds set himself apart from many of the others that I have seen floating around the internet so far.<div><br />

movie-star/fighter in the world leaves their front-row seat and climbs into the

Without Mr. T (and
MTV) the original WrestleMania would not have been the main-stream
success it became, and the WWF would never have recovered. Reportedly, they
leveraged so much to set up WrestleMania that anything less than a runaway
success would have meant death for the company and the careers of the
wrestlers. WrestleMania’s success launched WWF into a pop-culture phenomenon.
Due to this, the first may be the most crucial of all and Mr. T can be credited
with playing a large part. He was a legit fighter who starred in “Rocky 3” and “The
A-Team”. Having a tough Hollywood A-lister in the ring brought eyes to
wrestling that never would have taken a glance. The rest is history.<o:p></o:p></div>

landed media coverage from SportsCenter, Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning
America, Fox Business, MSNBC, Bleacher Report, etc. We all know her credentials. UFC badass. “Fast 7” star. The first female fighter with immense mainstream appeal. Although the world of entertainment is much different than in 1984, having a bona-fide sports-entertainment phenomenon on your show is a no-brainer. Imagine a properly promoted
match supported by the full power of the WWE marketing machine.</div>

WresteMania 31 is WWE’s most successful event to date. After years of trying
to maintain relevance in pop-culture, WWE has started
building momentum. With an increased focus on great athletes, actual wrestling
on TV, NXT creating and grooming fresh talent, marketing deals with NBC
Universal, and the WWE Network, the seeds of momentum WWE has sewn WrestleMania
31 could bloom into a groundswell heading into next year’s event. If the WWE
continues to build on what they have started, Ronda Rousey (Dana White permitting) could be the spark
that causes a new explosion in the wrestling business.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Am I saying wrestling will see a boom as huge as “Rock N’
Wrestling” or as successful as “Attitude”? In the words of late WWE Hall of
Famer Gorilla Monsoon: “Highly unlikely”. The world of entertainment (the whole
World in general, really) has changed too much in the past fifteen years. Then
again, WWE has changed quite a bit as well. Domestic ratings and live event
attendance is down considerably from those days but their international reach
is considerably larger. Pay-Per-View buys in general are down from 1999 but WWE
has leveraged the 1 Million buys they usually get for WrestleMania into 1.3
Million subscribers to their Network as of the Royal Rumble in January. (More on the difference in
dollars generated in another article) The Rumble’s highest buy-rate on Pay-Per-View
was just south of 600,000. If WWE could couple mainstream acceptance with their
enhanced market exposure, they could place more regular eyes on the wrestling
than ever before. <o:p></o:p></div>

I'm a fan who enjoys discussing wrestling with other fans. This entry is from a fan enjoyment perspective and is not attempting to tell WWE what to do with thier business. It is for discussion and entertainment purposes. Enjoy-<br />

WrestleMania season is officially over, which means WWE’s annual spring cleaning is inevitable. It has become as much of a WrestleMania tradition as Axxess. It’s a necessary evil, as most of the cuts clear out stale acts to make room for fresh ones. Sometimes they happen to talent that might have had some success if only given something different to do. There are always cases of squandered opportunities, but there are a few on this year’s possible “Future Endeavored” list that deserve a chance to see if a little effort could salvage a few careers. Here are four ideas to attempt it.<br />

Adam Rose was one of WWE’s first pet projects for an NXT
Superstar that bombed on the main roster. Adam Rose was supposed to be
wrestling’s Aldous Snow (Russell Brand). Unfortunately, Aldous Snow was a hard
drinking, drug abusing, piece-of-shit, self-sabotaging, party boy celebrity.
That type of character would never fly in PG WWE so we got was a guy who danced
around with people dressed in close-out Halloween costumes. <o:p></o:p></div>

Heath Slater worked hard, did what the company told him, and played

this left him with nothing much to do.<o:p></o:p></div>

Both guys have gimmicks within the same style. What is a
party without music? WWE is notorious for slapping together make-shift teams in
the past decade. At least this one makes some sense from a character
standpoint. Let them have some fun or make them an odd-couple pairing, it matters
not. Throw in Emma as their awkward dancing groupie and you have a new tag-team
and challenger to the divas title.<o:p></o:p></div>

One of WWE’s biggest
missed opportunities was Bo Dallas. WWE brought him up to the main roster with
some sharp vignettes and some wins over several WWE Superstars, including Mark
Henry. Whether Dallas did not deliver on his end, or if the fans were just
confused by the smiling, cheating, positive, hand shaking Dallas is debatable.
What is not, however, is that the gimmick flopped. Fans reacted to his catchy
“Bo-Lieve” trademark, but not Dallas himself.
He was injured soon after and has been seen seldom on TV since being
cleared to compete.<o:p></o:p></div>

One thing I miss from the old days is the Stable. Pair King Kong Bundy with Bobby Heenan to make a legit star
over-night. Add Lex Luger to the Four Horsemen: instant Main
Event player. Sure, we have the Corporta…..er, the Authority. We
had the Wyatts and the Shield for a bit. Sure, Dallas is no Heenan in terms of
star power. But with certain gimmicks an large group lends a certain aura to the

important. Thus, the Bo-Lievers <o:p></o:p></div>

Maybe Bo Dallas starts offering advice to some down-on-their-luck
Superstars. After manipulating them or helping them they become his followers:
The Bo-lievers. Give him Christian as an
assistant coach of sorts. Bo can talk, but Christian is great and could lend
some star-power to the group, while keeping him out of the ring. (Now Bo has a
“celebrity endorsement”.) Bo can get manage his protégés from the outside, and wrestle on Pay Per View and
big TV match-ups. Bring Zack Ryder,
Swagger, and Emma on board with offers of successful advice. Sandow is
currently getting some support, but could benefit from a midcard angle like
this when his Miz feud ends. Now you have something for all of these people to
do and angles to spin off of when members leave/new members join. Let Sandow
leave and feud with Bo. Bring Rowan and Fandango into the fold. It would be a
success-cult like a pyramid organization. Bo takes advantage of people who feel
they have nothing left. It would be like the Wyatt Family but less dark.

Harper and Wyatt have just been “around” lately. Bray is
fresh off of a WrestleMania loss to the returning Undertaker, so putting the
family back together may not be a bad idea. Much like the proposed “Bo-Lievers”,
I often wondered why WWE never extended the Wyatt Family. Surely a cult-leader
capable of spellbinding arenas full of people could pick up a soldier or two
for his war on society’s heroes.<o:p></o:p></div>

Since we’re talking prolonging careers here, maybe Wyatt
picks up the Ascension as well. Tweak the gimmick to be less-Road Warrior Rip-off.
The teams could start competing over Wyatt’s favor and affection. You’re making
Wyatt important, preserving one team, reuniting another, and creating an
obvious feud down the road. Think of a Wyatt Family Survivor Series team made
up of these 5 guys. If we were looking for completely fresh faces, pluck Mark
and Jay Briscoe from the Indies, possibly extending the Wyatt family’s reach
beyond the main roster to NXT. Their wild look would make them a good fit and their style
would add another dimension to the group, instead of another “big man” team.
When ready, debut them with a bang on the main roster. Let the Wyatt Clan reign
on high and create chaos until the time is right for them to fight for Bray’s
good graces. <o:p></o:p></div>

The name of the group is iffy, but the concept is as
relevant as ever. Plus, isn’t that what WWE Creative is for? With “Entourage”,
the movie, coming out soon, the concept will be all over pop-culture before we
know it. Take advantage of it with a group of young(ish) wrestlers who treat the
world as if their own personal party. For years Paris Hilton, Kim
Kardashian, Nicole Richie and other girls were fawned over, followed, and photographed simply for being birthed into money. They were young, famous, attractive, rich, and liked to party. They are more famous for their private
lives than their professional ones, any more. Why have we not seen that in wrestling yet? We have had the Nature Boy, Million Dollar Man, and Legacy but wrestling has never mirrored the young Hollywood Elite, living off of an inherited legacy or coasting on natural looks an talent, treating the WWE as their own personal party. They are very talented or attractive, but take pride in getting by with as little effort as possible. Just like the above mentioned celebrities.<o:p></o:p><br />

This one is my favorite because of the endless
possibilities. In this case, you can either put the focus on 2nd or
3rd generation stars and build out the group with leeching friends or managers sucking them dry, or focus on young talent “coasting” on their looks and talents. Why not mix both? Either way, take Curtis Axel. He is a talented technician whom the fans
never cared about. Axelmania showed that, given the right circumstances, he
actually could connect with the fans. Maybe he misses matches due to his party lifestyle, or throws a match to get to a Raw after-party early. He's talented but content living off of his fathers’ legacy. Imagine if he showed up on Raw wearing Mr. Perfect's Hall of Fame ring? Or he starts wearing shirts that say “The Perfect Son”, or “Mr Perfect’s Kid”. Pair him up
with a woman that fans see as a fame whore. <o:p></o:p></div>
